Thorburns provided structural design for the new steel frame to support the Air New Zealand Air Bridge from the Hanger 3+ Workshops.
Working closely with Pop Up Globe and Camelspace, Thorburns completed the structural design for the Pop Up Globe in 2016. The worlds first replica of Shakespeare`s London Theatre.
The Ruakuri caves walkways and suspended bridges were designed by Thorburn Consultants. The 10 metre wide spiral entry travels a linear distance of 160 metres through five full turns to reach the bottom
Thorburns provided structural design for the new log flume attraction ‘The Big Splash’ at Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park. The structural design included the first ever precast water flume design, piled foundations to the 5m high elevated section of the flume and the 1000m3 splashdown pond. Concrete lifts were incorporated in the flume to provide over 12m elevation to the ride.
We worked in collaboration with Isthmus to design the Hobsonville Walkway structural elements. The walkway consists of a concrete footpath winding around the new residential development at Hobsonville Point. Thorburn designed the pedestrian bridges, staircases and viewing platforms featured along the way.
